Things to Look For when reviewing
'Certificates' & Reports
1.) Check the dates:
there should be 2, a 'Valid Until' date near the top and
an 'Issue Date' near the bottom
-- I have seen forgeries that alter the 'Issue Date', but
forget about the 'Valid Until' Date. If you see a report
with an 'Issue Date' after the
'Valid Until' date it is a fake. Also, be wary if the date
is not recent. Some people are using 3 year old CITES certificates.
2.) Check the form number
at the top of the page: This is another
thing counterfeiters forget to alter, therefore there are
multiple sites using certificates with the same exact form
numbers. Only one form (each with a unique form number)
is used for each export of Hoodia.
3.) The Name the Certificate
is licensed to. Legit documents have the
company's name (or parent company) as the exporter. If this
is blocked out, it is probably a fake.
4.) Similar markings / handwriting
repeated throughout many certificates. This
should never be the case as there are many people who would
fill these out and vary in handwriting and markings.
5.) Companies who say a CITES
Certificate is Needed for Hoodia: There
are many distribution levels of Hoodia and only one
of those people would have access to an authentic CITES
Certificates. CITES Certificates are not necessary to handle
and sell Hoodia Gordonii products. If a company states anything
different they are blowing smoke. |
